In an address to the world on Russian State TV, Putin said the country of Russia is being canceled by Western forces similar to the treatment of the Harry Potter author JK Rowling. "Cancel" culture is an internet term used to ostracize individuals or call them out for their bad behavior, thrusting them out of social and professional circles. Whether or not it's a real tactic to stop a war remains to be seen.
When JK Rowling sat in that cafe all those years ago, there’s no way she could have known she’d one day be endorsed by Vladimir Putin. Never give up on your dreams.

Putin said in his statement, "They canceled Joanne Rowling recently, the children's author. Her books are published all over the world. Just because she didn't satisfy the demands of gender rights."
To make matters worse, the Russian Embassy in France tweeted an image of the United States and the European Union injecting Europe with syringes filled with, "cancel culture", "Russianphobia", "NATO" and many others.
Putin stated that the removal of Russian artists and writers from western libraries, Nazi book burnings, and even the Nuclear bombs dropped in Japan were all equatable to JK Rowling's transphobic ideas and that it's the West that should be canceled, not Russia.
Putin has spent his time on british gender twitter and is now forcing JK Rowling to either condemn him (and refute the idea she has been cancelled) or go all in (something that she has broadly avoided). She now has to decide if she wants to go glinner mode. smart play

Putin said, "We remember that footage when they were burning books. It's impossible to imagine such a thing in our country. We're insured against these things thanks to our culture."
However, Russia has banned and burned books, as well as executed artists for contrasting political views many times throughout their history. This isn't the first time Putin has cried canceled during the Ukrainian invasion, just last October he was making claims that Western cancel culture was coming for Russia.
Don't worry Putin, you'll get your 18th, or was it 19th, year as Russia's president regardless of what Western culture thinks of you.
